Forza Horizon 4 lets you race across the seasons
Forza Horizon 4 will take place in a shared open world where you race through the UK countryside.
Microsoft Studios introduced Forza Horizon 4 during today's Xbox E3 presser, and there are lots of ways it stands out from past entries.
The trailer, below, is gorgeous, showing off the curvy roads and sweeping vistas the UK is known for - as well as the rain, fog and snow.
The game features a massive shared open world where players race across Scotland and the British coastline, and players can connect with each other with a variety of quick chat options. But more importantly, the map can experience seasonal changes, with maps undergoing significant changes across spring, summer, fall, and winter.
The seasons will change not only the look of the game world, but the racing conditions, and even the accessibility of certain pathways. This means that once fall hits you'll be able to drive through piles of leaves, which should be lovely.
Forza Horizon 4 Motorcycles:
Interestingly towards the end of the trailer we got a quick peek at some possible new vehicles: Motorcycles and hovercraft. We don't know if they're just showcase events at this point, but they'll definitely be something to look out for in the future.
A handful of screenshots have been released, too, showing off some of the cars you'll be driving - and a hovercraft race that should be good weird fun.
There will be over 450 cars to unlock and drive in Horizon 4, and the open shared world will change every week, making this the most ambitious game yet in Playground Games' celebrated racing series. On console the game will run at 4K, 60 FPS on Xbox One X.
Forza Horizon 4 will launch simultaneously on PC and Xbox One on October 2, 2018. It will debut at Xbox Game Pass on the same day, as all first party Xbox titles now will.
