Fortnite: Epic is adding an undo purchase button to the store

Fortnite developer Epic Games has revealed that it's working on a new feature that'll allow players to immediately refund money spent on cosmetic items by accident.

As it stands, the Fortnite in-game store offers a token-based, self-service refund system whereby players can submit a request and use up one of limited refund tokens. Players are free to do this within 30 days of purchase, but the system doesn't account for accidental purchases.

On the game's subreddit, many asked Epic to use the confirmation system Fortnite already has in Japan. The feature simply offers a confirmation box any time you want to buy something, eliminating accidental button presses.

In response, the developer explained that this is a special case in Japan, and not something Epic plans to bring to other regions. What it is working on adding, however, is a no-questions-asked refund system separate from the aforementioned token.

The updated setup will offer players just five minutes to refund their purchase, assuming they haven't started a match.

"We neither want to add friction for players nor do we want to benefit from accidental purchases or players regretting a purchase," the developer explained.

"PlayStation 4 in Japan is a bit of special case due to X / O button meaning being swapped by default and there also being options to reverse the meanings of the buttons."
