Fortnite: how to use the new ping system
Season 8 is finally here and a new mechanic has been added to Fortnite.
Fortnite Season 8 began this week and the map now has two new locations, a pirate cannon has been added and a volcano has appeared.
In amongst all the regular updates, a new ping system has been added to Fortnite. It works similarly to the ping system in Apex Legends where you can highlight weapons/gear/enemies to your teammates without uttering a single word.
Fortnite: how to use the ping system
Using the ping system is pretty straightforward. PC players can use the middle mouse button to highlight an object, whereas console players must press L1/ left bumper/ L on PS4, Xbox One and Switch respectively.
Double tapping turns the icon red, notifying your teammates of nearby enemies.
Players have found vans around the Fortnite map and dataminers uncovered details of Second Chance Cards and Vans. Epic Games has previously said it was considering adding respawns into Fortnite and it doesn't look like we'll be waiting for long before they're added.
Party Assist is another new mechanic added with the Season 8 update, where you can enlist the help of your friends in order to complete a challenge.
