Final Fantasy XIII-2's ending doesn't refer to a sequel

A nudge at the end of Final Fantasy XIII-2 has raised hopes for a further sequel, but it's time to dash them. Minor spoilers ahead.

According to Andriasang's translation of an Impress Watch report from the Taipei Game Show, director Motomu Toriyama was asked to explain the "To Be Continued" message at the end of Final Fantasy XIII-2's main story.

Toriyama said the message refers to two things - the many secret Paradox endings players can unlock through side-content, and plans to continue releasing DLC.

Asked what the 1st Production Department is up to now the game has shipped, Toriyama said the team is working on the afore-mentioned DLC, including an upcoming Lightning story chapter.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 is available now on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
