FF Versus XIII development "challenged," yet to hit prod

A new report on Final Fantasy Versus XIII director Tetsuya Nomura's Famitsu interview suggests the game is not yet in full production. Hopes dashed.

According to Andriasang's translation, Nomura said the development team is experimenting with a lot of new "challenges", so at the moment, only core members are on board. Even so, they are preparing to go into full production; it's not at the prototype stage or anything, apparently.

The three screenshots seen by Famitsu will not be released for public viewing yet, and new screenshots of previously seen areas will be issued, showing off the new lighting effects.

Nomura's reference to player-controlled cutscenes is still quite mysterious, but employs a new system, which the director feels has never been done before.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII is currently slated for a PlayStation 3-exclusive release, with no launch window set.
