Final Fantasy Type -"Next" teased at Hong Kong event by Tabata

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD director Hajime Tabata showed artwork for what could be a follow-up to the recently released title.

According to Games Talk, the artwork for "Final Fantasy Type-Next" was revealed during a Hong Kong launch event today, with Tabata stating the sequel started production after development on the original version of Type-0 ended.

With Tabata now in charge of Final Fantasy 15 development, production on the sequel has halted for the time being.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Final Fantasy Type-0 HD featured a secret movie, not included in the original PSP version, containing clues the sequel.

Square has filed trademarks for Type-1, Type-2 and Type-3, so it's pretty likely the game will not have "next" attached to the title. Who knows at this point, though.

Tabata said he and his team want to continue developing the game, but nothing is confirmed at present due to FF15 taking up the team's time.

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD released earlier this week in North America on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game released today in the UK.
