Final Fantasy Type-0 localisation nearly completed in 2011 - rumour

Final Fantasy Type-0 localisation was well underway when the project was shelved, according to an anonymous source.

The source got in touch with Operation Suzaku, a fan group which lobbies for the portable RPG's release in the west. According to the whisperer, apparently one of the voice cast, English voice acting was recorded in its entirety in late 2011, just after Type-0's release in Japan.

The project was allegedly shelved in early 2012, when localisation in general was 90% complete, due to declining PSP software and hardware sales in the west.

The source said Square Enix is waiting for a demonstration of fan demand before committing to a release, and a second insider told the site that Square Enix and Sony haven't been able to work out any kind of resolution as regards its release, suggesting a PSN-only launch has been suggested and found impractical. This account fits quite well with Square Enix's official stance on the project.

Operation Suzaku actively nags Square Enix about Type-0 on a regular basis and has a petition on the go.

Final Fantasy Type-0, once known as XIII Agito, is a PSP exclusive about the adventures of a group of students caught up in a war. It was but is no longer considered part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis canon which includes Final Fantasy XIII and its sequels as well as Versus XIII, but is expected to spawn its own line of sequels, as it proved quite popular in Japan.
