Disappointingly, the creator of Final Fantasy's next game is for smartphones

If you were hoping for a new console RPG from Mistwalker, I'm afraid you're in for a disappointment.

hironobu_sakaguchi

Hironobu Sakaguchi is best known as the father of Final Fantasy and founder of Mistwalker, developer of Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey and The Last Story.

His latest project, however, lacks some of that basic core appeal - it's an RPG designed for smartphones.

Famitsu reports Terra Battle - a title Mistwalker recently trademarked - is coming to Android and iOS in Japan in September.

There's nothing wrong with mobile games of course, but it's not what we were hoping for when we heard that Sakaguchi would reveal his new game at Japan Expo this week.

That's not to say Sakaguchi and Mistwalker don't have another project in the works, so stay tuned for more information from France.

Thanks, Polygon. [image]
