The newly launched Final Fantasy 14 is offering a new incentive to subscribe through a Veteran Rewards system. The idea is that if you choose to buy a longer subscription you'll be given in-game items and other exclusive options.
So, if you subscribe for 30 days you'll receive the Wind-Up Cursor Minion, 60 days gets you a Black Chocobo Chick and a Cascadier Uniform Voucher, and 90 days gets you the Beady Eye creature and the Voidal Resonator. If you opt for the longer subscriptions, you'll also get the items from the lower tiers.
Is this enough to justify the game's sub-service in a world of free-to-play and alternative model games?
