FIFA 19 tips: how to master Timed Finishing - before it gets nerfed

This new move in FIFA is absolutely destroying rivals - we reckon it's so powerful it's likely to get nerfed.

FIFA 19 has introduced a new shot that changes the game significantly. Early play suggests it's pretty overpowered so you're going to want to master this as soon as possible.

Called Timed Finishing, it allows players to increase power and accuracy to a shot, provided you get the timing of your button taps perfect. You'll find it essential for players in any position, from defenders to mid to strikers - it's a powerful move, regardless.

How to master Timed Finishing

  • First up, go to Settings and make sure Timed Finishing is turned on.
  • Now go to the Trainer menu, and under Movement and Mechanics you'll find the option Timed Finishing Bar Indicator. Turn this on.

Now that's taken care of its down to your timing. A double tap on shoot (O on PS4, B on Xbox One) will see you nail the shot if you're timing is spot on.

The first tap loads the power bar, which you can now see because you turned the Timed Finishing Bar Indicator on. The second tap will tell you how good your shot is going to be; Too Early, Early, Great Timing, Late and Too Late. These will be highlighted red, yellow, green or grey.

Naturally, you want to get the Great Timing result in green. However, green doesn't necessarily mean you're going to score, and it's still possible to score with a yellow Early or grey Late result.

To do this you need to get your markers in the green Great Timing zone. If you're not directly looking at the markers, try your second tap as the player's foot gets close to the ball for a strike.

You don't always needs to follow the first tap with an immediate second tap - depending on your situation and position on the pitch, you may need a brief pause to get the timing of the second shot perfect. You'll have to read the match for each Timed Finishing move and it takes some practise, but once you're more comfortable and getting it right, you can turn the trainer off.
