Famitsu review scores round-up: Girls und Panzer: Dream Tank Match, Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal, more

Japan loves its anime and visual novels, and it shows with multiple visual novels and anime-style games being reviewed this past week by Famitsu.

Girls und Panzer: Dream Tank Match is the third for the series, while Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal has adapted the original side-scroller into a 3D action game in the style of the Versus games.

Several of these visual novels, including the highest reviewed game this week in Harukanaru Toki no Naka de Ultimate, are what are commonly referred to as an otome game. Otome meaning roughly “young lady,” these are essentially dating games with the role reversed: you play as a woman trying to garner the affection of various suitors.

Meanwhile, small western titles Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles have reached Japanese shores, only to receive the same middling reception they got when originally released in the west. Personally, Yonder's aesthetic stuck out as an indie (if you can call it that) to watch, but looks aren't everything it seems.

Tennis, not to be confused with the Nintendo-developed NES game also named Tennis, was released by D3 Publisher on the Switch eShop for a mere $7.99 has a score that may reflect that.
