The private beta for Fallout 4's PS4 mods is coming soon, and Bethesda has revealed a few pertinent details.

Fallout 4 developer Bethesda has revealed that the Creation Kit, the game's mod making suite, now supports uploading mods to PlayStation 4, in preparation for the upcoming private mods beta launch on Sony's console.

Update 1.5.4 for the kit has been released and it brought an interesting security feature in response to the recent surge of users infringing on modders' rights by uploading mods they didn't make.

As of this update, you'll only be able to upload mods if you own the game on Steam, and have a Steam-linked Bethesda account.

However, the update also comes with a couple of issues Bethesda is aware of and working to fix. The most obvious one here is the mod file size limit being at 900 MB, as opposed to Xbox One's 2 GB. Bethesda said it's working with Sony to increase the limit.

The other issue affects memory usage and overall game peformance when using PC textures. Bethesda is also working with Sony to create an "optimal texture exporting support in a future update."

Finally, sound files are currently not supported due to the console's use of a proprietary audio format. Again, this is another thing the studio is working with Sony to fix.
