Fable Legends: villain players wont fight heroes directly, Lionhead explains role

Fable Legends will let Xbox One gamers play as a hero or villain, but the two sides won't ever fight one another directly. Lionhead Studios has explained just how being the bad guy will work.

It follows word that Fable Legends' online features were inspired by Dark Souls. Hit the link to find out how the two stack up.

Now, on the Lionhead forums, community manager Chris Hohbein responded to questions regarding players choosing to be villains across Albion. It sounds as if they will enter the world covertly alongside up to four heroes to spawn in and control minion creatures for player-controlled good guys to battle. They won't ever lock swords with other players directly.

"Villain players will have different sorts of minions at their disposal," Hohbein confirmed, "some more powerful than others - so, while you won't get to physically fight the Villain 'one on one' as it were, the Villain is able to control every minion you encounter including the more powerful ones.

"The idea of villain players attacking towns sounds interesting! But I'd imagine that would be a huge challenge, both technically and in terms of gameplay for those in the town! Nevertheless, always good to hear ideas!"

In addition, players can act the villain remotely using SmartGlass, but using your tablet or phone "won't be mandatory," he stressed, and stated that," it's there as an option to improve your experience."

Lastly, he added that there's currently no word on the Fable Legends release date or beta plans.

What do you make of the above? Does it sound interesting?
