European testing on The Old Republic delayed by BioWare

BioWare's announced its delaying beta testing on Star Wars: The Old Republic until further notice, citing various reasons for the delay.

The company said that it was postponing the start of European testing due to a new build and character wipe on the way, adding that if players were to be invited now, there would be a good chance it would have to download the game client at 27Gb along with everyone else in the beta.

"This is a relatively large amount to download in such a short space of time and not an experience we want new testers to be exposed to," said EU community manager Chris Collins on the TOR forums.

One other reason for the delay, Collins said, was that so it could add French and German localisations to the new build coming soon.

The Old Republic's due by the end of this year.
