Eurogamer covers all major European territories with launch of Italian edition

Brighton, England, November 10th, 2008: Eurogamer Network today announces the launch of its sixth European-language website - Eurogamer Italia. The site is now live at http://www.eurogamer.it.

Eurogamer has partnered with a vastly experienced local Italian team for the launch. Luca De Dominicis is the site’s managing director, whilst industry veteran Alberto Belli (previously of Xbox Magazine, OPM, EDGE Italy and Leader/Black Bean Games) joins as publishing director.

This latest launch means Eurogamer now has local editorial and sales teams in all the major European gaming territories – UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Holland and Portugal. Eurogamer Italy is the fourth local Eurogamer site to be launched this year.

“Our local sites are quickly gaining readers and advertisers across Europe and we expect our Italian venture to follow suit," said Rupert Loman, managing director of Eurogamer.

"We've taken our time to find our partners in each country, but we’re delighted with the choices we have made and we look forward to working with Luca and Alberto."

Eurogamer Italia’s Luca De Dominicis added, “We’re really proud to publish Eurogamer here in Italy, pushing one of the most important editorial brands in the world and the number one in Europe. We’re sure that the Italian audience will appreciate the quality and richness of content and interactive tools Eurogamer has to offer. It’s a dream for our journalists, customers and the Italian games industry too.”

In addition Eurogamer Italia has partnered with the Gameland, the biggest console videogames tournament in Europe. More than 4000 players from all over the world will be competing for an €80,000 prize pool. The event will take place in Rome, in the world famous Auditorium created by Renzo Piano. Eurogamer Italia will be the official media partner for the event.

Each local Eurogamer website has its own editorial team to provide the best possible content for its community. However, the sites are also able to draw on the shared resources of the Eurogamer Network where required. Eurogamer Network websites continue to enjoy rapid growth, and reached more than 2.6 million unique users in October this year.
