ESA: A little over half of US households own a gaming console

Figures released by the ESA, and shown during the 9th Annual Digital Entertainment Conference by NOA president Reggie Fils-Aime, show that 72% of US households play video games. In 2007, the figure stood at 67%, with gains and declines happening over the past four years of console and/or PC gaming usage. While types of games weren't noted, it's assumed these figures also include mobile and social titles as well. The number of households with game consoles has gone from 43.1% in 2010 to 50.5% in 2011, which broken down, has Wii in 31.2% of households, Xbox 360 in 14% of homes, and PS3 in 10.6% of US households.
