Epic working hard on making Gears of War PC playable

Posting on the company's official forums, Epic Games programmer 'joeGraf' has told fans that the company is working with Microsoft to find a solution to the fact that as the Windows digital certificate for the game expired yesterday, it is no longer playable.

"We have been notified of the issue and are working with Microsoft to get it resolved. Sorry for any problems related to this. I'll post more once we have a resolution," he said.

"Yes, this was a surprise to us too. We aren't casting blame or chewing anyone out. We're trying to figure out how and why it happened so we can get it fixed."

Apparently, if when you try and play Gears on your PC you'll be met with: "You cannot run the game with modified executable code. Please reinstall the game."

EG reports that our old friend the internet has come up with a solution: simply set the system clock to a date previous to January 29.
