Epic Games working on account merging and unlinking consoles from accounts

Sony finally relented on it’s no cross-platform multiplayer policy yesterday, with Fortnite being the guinea pig for this endeavour. Fortnite fans were delighted to know that they could log into their Epic account and link all their different accounts together.

PS4 players who held off creating another account to play on a different console that allowed for cross-platform play can now connect all their devices to one account so that they can play with the same character they’ve no doubt spent hours and/or real money on improving.

Some PS4 players created a new Epic account when it became apparent you couldn’t use your login on the Switch or any other console except your PS4. There was an outcry from the Fortnite community, with Sony originally doubling down on their decision to block cross-platform play. The decision to allow cross-play came as a surprise, but it was a welcome one nevertheless.

In response to this, Epic Games has announced that it is looking at a way to merge a player’s two accounts together to combine Battle Royale purchases, which will be coming in November.
It also announced that they are looking into how to unlink a console from one Fortnite account and relinking it to another, which should be coming in the next few days.

This would hopefully allow players to pull resources from both their accounts, which fans are pleased about, as well as the ability to change what platform you want to use with your main account if you’re lucky enough to be a multi-platform home.

To set up cross-play and be able to play with your friends on every device, check out our guide here.
