Empire of Sin, a gangster strategy game from Brenda Romero set in Prohibition-era Chicago, has been revealed

Nintendo unveiled a new game from Brenda Romero during their E3 Direct, but it'll also be coming to PC, Xbox One and PS4.

Empire of Sin is a strategy game set in 1920s Chicago, where you'll play as one of 14 crime bosses vying for control over the city. It's being developed by Romero Games and Paradox Interactive.

From the press release: "With randomly generated starting conditions, players will have to adapt to survive and do whatever it takes to outsmart, out-gun and outlast their opponents."

You'll be able to build up a crime empire by starting speakeasies and casinos, or skimming from unions, and you'll build up a team to take over the city.

When the time comes to take or defend territory, you'll face opposing mob groups in turn-based combat. You'll also be able to bribe cops, use the black market to your advantage, and generally build alliances through whatever means necessary. There will be many different ways to succeed in Empire of Sin, but it sounds like you'll need to get your hands dirty along the way.

In the trailer, the camera pans back to show the whole city as a series of businesses to be conquered - sort of like that Godfather 2 game on the Xbox 360 and PS3. Interesting.

The game is due in spring 2020.
