EA to reward players for completing matches in FIFA 11

EA's Simon Humbler has told Eurogamer that the FIFA 11 development team is looking at ways to punish online game-quitters in the series's next release.

Humbler - who is producer on the upcoming World Cup tie-in for PS3, 360, Wii and PSP - said the game would reward people for completing matches, while players who would quit would be penalised.

The context of those rewards wasn't made clear.

"It's a complex problem. We do have the five-minute rule: if you find your connection's poor you can drop out within the first five minutes," he said.

"After that there should be a penalty; just in the online world there are complexities that mean by the time the data comes back to our servers, something there means it doesn't award the win to the right person. So we're always looking to improve that."

FIFA 11 is due out in Q2 of EA's FY2011, between July-September this year.
