EA Play arrives August 31 on Steam

EA Play will officially launch on Steam later this month.

EA has finally set a date for the launch of its EA Play subscription service on Steam. EA Play, which recently re-branded from EA Access, will be available beginning August 31.

EA Play's official Steam page doesn't mention any details we don't already know, so the assumption is that the library and monthly fee will be identical across both Origin and Steam. Outside of that, the usual membership benefits like a 10% discount on EA games and DLC remain.

What Steam isn't getting, however, is EA Play Pro - the upper tier previously known as Origin Access Premier. EA Play Pro offers full access to EA's games at launch, not limited trials like what you find in the regular EA Play. For now, at least, Pro remains an Origin exclusive.

It's also worth noting that unlike Xbox Game Pass, EA Play benefits are limited to the platform the subscription was made on, so you can't use your Steam membership on PS4 or Xbox One and vice versa.
