EA goes Battlefield domain crazy, registers through Battlefield 20

EA has just gone on a domain-buying spree, picking up the domain names for Battlefield 13 right through to Battlefield 20.

EA registered the domain names on the 2nd May, and now owns Battlefield13.com all the way through to Battlefield20.com. They already owned the domains up to number 9, while the domains for Battlefield10, 11 and 12 are owned by an external party.

The domain registrations could simply be EA making moves to protect its brand from domain name squatters or could also potentially be an indicator of future planning.

EA is the company that releases its yearly sports franchises with this simple naming convention, after all - rather than a ton of sequentially numbered Battlefield titles this could support the suggestion of a year-based naming convention for the series.

Battlefield 4 is sticking to a more traditional numbering, and is out later this year. Thanks, Fusible.
