Face it, NHL 15 is one of the most gorgeous next-gen games

NHL 15's E3 2014 trailer is here at last. Better late than never - especially when you're as shiny as this one is.

EA Canada is lining up its second bout of Ignite Engine sports games, and its experience with the new tech is really starting to show. FIFA 14 was pretty good, but FIFA 15 looks amazing; EA Sports UFC is a graphical wonder; and NHL 15 is just ridiculously good-looking.

Okay, sure, the fact that it all takes place on one kind of surface, with no weather or explosions, makes things a bit easier than in a shooter or other kind of action game - but just look at this shizzle.

Look at the cloth crinkling. Look at the shadows - not just the ones on the ground, but those cast on the characters themselves. Look at the facial animations, and at the animations in general. And look at the shine on everything! There are more reflections in this short trailer than in the entirety of the last generation of games.

Wild exaggerations aside, do feast your eyes on this beauty. Graphics aren't everything, of course - EA Sports UFC hasn't won universal praise, that's for sure - but what the wizards at EA are doing is a marvel in itself.

NHL 15 hits PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in September.
