E3 2018: Transference is Ubisoft's narrative-based horror game

Transference is a story-based game about exploring the memories of a disturbed mind.

While virtual reality doesn't have the same focus that past E3 conferences have, there are still some solid games emerging with the format - including Ubisoft's Transference. (Don't worry, it will still be available in traditional console formats.)

Transference follows a scientist who has uploaded a digital simulation of his family into a computer network. The only problem is the data has become corrupted - assuming the family wasn't corrupted to begin with. Even worse, your character is now trapped in the simulation. To escape, you'll need to recollect the fragmented memories of each family member to see what brought them to this point.

The finished game will be a collaboration between Ubisoft and SpectreVision, the film company founded by Elijah Wood. In fact, Wood took to the Ubisoft E3 stage to present Transference, and despite a few charming line fumbles, he seems quite excited about the project.

Transference launches for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in Fall 2018. Virtual reality options such as PSVR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive will be supported at launch.
