E3 2016 attendance down over last year's, E3 2017 dates revealed

It seems this year's E3 show did not attract a bigger number of attendees than last year's, like it usually does.

The ESA revealed that the show had 50,300 visitors this year, down from 52,000 last year. E3 2015' was also record-breaking for the three-day event.

This isn't completely surprising, seeing as more than one publisher weren't present at the show this year. Both Activision and Disney gave up their spots this year. In the case of Disney's, the publisher exited games publishing altogether.

EA, also another staple at the show, hosted its own Play event - near E3, as well as in London. This year also saw the first event open to public, called E3 Live, which was attended by 20,000 players.

E3 2017 will be taking place June 13-15, 2017. Once again at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
