E3 2012 sees 45,700 attendees, next venue to be announced "soon"

Michael D. Gallagher, president and CEO of the ESA, organizers of E3, has said the year's event brought 45,700 industry professionals to LA.

The convention also provided the city with $40 million in revenue due to the various journalists, retailer, analysts, and 200 exhibitors from 103 countries.

"E3 2012 focused and harnessed the passion, energy, and excitement for video games and propelled our industry into the global spotlight," Gallagher said in a prepared statement. "Thanks to our members and exhibitors' remarkable vision, billions of consumers watched and learned about our industry and this incredible intersection of creativity, technology, and content."

Gallagher said E3 2012 resulted around 30,000 hotel room nights with over 300 buyers taking advantage of the VIP Retailer Program, a package which included "elite travel, concierge, and hosting services,"

The ESA will announce dates for E3 2013 and the host city in the coming weeks.

Gallagher said earlier this week the convention might move should the proposed Farmers Field stadium demo the West Hall of the LA Convention Center impacting admission to and set up of E3.

Cities such as San Francisco, New York, Chicago and New Orleans are candidates should E3 be held elsewhere. Atlanta, where E3 was originally held, wasn’t mentioned as a possibility - yet.
