Duke Nukem creator's stroke captured live on Twitter
3D Realms founder and Duke Nukem creator George Broussard has suffered a mild stroke. He's okay now, but the whole event is recorded on social media.
Twitter followers were shocked and concerned yesterday when Broussard complained of neurological symptoms and expressed his belief that he may have had a stroke.

A few hours later, the veteran developer gave an update, describing his ongoing symptoms and various tests, along with very human emotion.
Headed for MRI. Blood drawn. Poked and prodded. Speech still slurred. Fine in ll other areas. Scared.

After seeing a neurologist, Broussard returned to confirm he had indeed suffered a cerebrovascular incident.
Saw neurologist. Definitely had mild stroke. Speech bad but will recover. Will be admitted to hospital for 2-3 days for tests now. Sucks

Our thoughts are with Broussard and his family and we're wishing him a full recovery.
Seeing a medical emergency play out like this live on social media is frightening, but it also shows that with prompt action strokes don't have to be fatal or even especially consequential. Visit the American Stroke Association to familiarise yourself with the signs of this potentially damaging condition; there's a handy acronym and everything. Strokes can happen at any age - Aubrey Plaza of Parks and Recreation had one at age 20 - and to people at all levels of physical fitness. So.
