Duelyst is new turn-based strategy game from ex-Blizzard & Insomniac dev

Duelyst is the new turn-based strategy title from former Blizzard and Insomniac developer Keith Lee, Rogue Legacy lead artist Glauber Kotaki and indie team Counterplay Games. It's currently funding on Kickstarter, with an initial goal of $68,000.

Over on Kickstarter, Counterplay confirmed that Duelyst is in the works for PC, Mac and Web, with a view to providing turn-based tactical play and competitive ranked online modes.

It's a squad based 1v1 game that sees players fighting to slaughter the other's general, aided by an assortment of fantasy characters. The team has stressed that every single battle unit and spell in the game can be earned, and as such the business model - which has yet to be fully revealed - will not encourage pay to win. They say they hate that. We agree.

Games are designed to be played within 30 minutes and place emphasis on unit positioning, second-guessing your opponent's moves and responding wisely. The team anticipates five playable factions at launch and a line-up of 100 battle units and spells.

You can get more details on the factions and their units, plus tons more on modes and gameplay over at the Duelyst Kickstarter page,
