Double Dragon for iDevice announced

An iDevice version of classic beat-'em-up Double Dragon? Pff, whatever. Local co-op with a friend via Bluetooth? Okay, I'm listening.

Evil Avatar reports the revamp comes courtesy of Aksys, the same publisher behind the BazBlue series.

It's not a direct port, instead featuring new art, sprites and remixed music, as well as a gameplay overhaul - probably a good thing since nostalgia clouds the unwieldiness of the original.

Played with an on-screen virtual controller, the revamp features as "easy to use" combo system and new attacks.

Achievements, unlockable characters, new enemies and bosses ices the cake, while two player bluetooth co-op puts a cherry on it the size of your head.

Double Dragon iPhone hits the App Store in March, and in the meantime, sports a fetching Facebook page.
