Dota 2 balance update contains new staff as a homage to Terry Pratchett's Discworld

Valve has issued a large balance update for its Dota 2 MOBA containing not only a novels' worth of hero changes, but notes on an AoE Bonus Gold component, as well as a new endgame inspired by author Terry Pratchett's Discworld.

Called the Octarine Core, the new endgame item is something many mage-types will want: is formed from a Mystic Staff and Soul Booster which will provide boots to hit points, mana, intelligence and regeneration mana and hit points.

It has a 25% reduction to cooldowns and a passive Spell Lifesteal which regenerates 25% health when using spells against heroes and 5% from creeps.

It's a very nice homage to Mr. Pratchett.

OnlyBrothers has a video of the staff in action, which is posted above.

You can look over the entire update through the Dota 2 website.

Valve said over the weekend to expect the Dota 2 International Compendium to drop sometime this week.
