Dota 2 The First Blood update adds LAN play, new armoury system, and more

The next major update for Dota 2, which is due on September 23, adds in a bunch of new features including LAN play.

The First Blood adds network play support for up to ten players, opening the door for LAN parties and lag-free Internet cafe play.

It also adds a new play mode called Captain's Draft. Two teams nominate a captain and then choose their characters from a randomised pool of 24. Each side takes turns banning two heroes from each match, resulting in an on-the-fly tactical line-up.

The Backpack will be changed into an Armoury, where players can build filters to help them navigate quickly through all their gear.

As well as the new features, the patch opens the door for new premium DLC, including the voice of Portal's GLaDOS as an announcer, Aperture Science Wardcores, the Portal HUD skin, and new items created by the community.

Valve has more complete patch notes for your perusal.
