Dota 2: each update accounts for 3% of Earth's total internet use

Dota 2 is so popular that every time Valve pushes out a new update for the game, it accounts for 3% of the world's total internet use. Bloody hell.

During a Linuxcon session, Newell said, "When we do a new update for something like Dota 2, nearest we can tell, we’re generating 2-3% of the worldwide and LAN-based IP traffic.”

That's pretty mad if it's true. What do you think?

It's the same session that saw Newell confirm that it will be revealing its hardware plans next week. Check out what he said about that particular bombshell here.
