Doom open multiplayer beta coming next week to all platforms

An open beta for Doom will run next week, April 15-18 Bethesda has announced, alongside the first paid DLC content.

As is common with open betas, a code will not be required to participate. All the player has to do is log into their console or PC, find the beta listed, and jump into Team Deathmatch and Warpath on the Heatwave and Infernal maps.

When Doom releases, it will contain SnapMap, which will allow users to create and share modes and maps. Developer id Software will also offer content updates for SnapMap, including map modules; props and objects; additional features and functionality; AI enhancements; editing tool enhancements and more.

Throughout the year, multiplayer will also receive content updates in the form of new game modes. Both of these SnapMap and multiplayer updates will be free to use and play.

Three premium multiplayer DLC packs will be released after launch and will contain new maps, hack modules, playable demons, weapons and more.

The first DLC will be available this summer and includes:

  • Three new maps
  • One new weapon
  • One new playable demon
  • One new armour set
  • One new piece of equipment
  • New hack modules and taunts
  • New customization colors and patterns

Each DLC pack will cost $14.99/£11.99/€14.99 each. Alternatively, a Season Pass will include all future content for $39.99/£29.99/€39.99.

Doom is out on May 13 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
