Don't get worked up over those Nintendo NX survey specs

More rumors for Nintendo NX have popped up today. This time the information comes from a GFK Survey.

An image of the survey appeared in our Twitter feed earlier today, but we weren't quite sure what to make of it. Since then Eurogamer reports it has verified the validity of the survey.

First off, GFK is a client of Nintendo's so that is something to be taken into account. The firm is also responsible for sales data collected for Chart-Track in the UK.

That being said, the information contained within the survey could just be testing the waters so to speak, gauging public interest.

Note that the specs and information posted below included in the survey could change by the time Nintendo introduces the NX console in June. Or won't be included at all.

  • Supports achievements
  • 4K/60FPS video streaming
  • 900p/60FPS gameplay
  • Gameplay which flows between NX and NX Handheld Device
  • Box includes: console, sensor bar, controller, HDMI cable

The odd bit up there is the 900p bit, which points again toward speculation on the hardware end considering many Wii U games are 1080p and as Gunman Clive developer Bertil Hörberg said, "900p can't be considered an arbitrary bullet point for an unreleased console: it's a design choice some developers make."

Other parts of the survey asked participants how much they'd pay for the console and if they preferred a disc drive or not.

More pages from the survey have also been released with questions regarding a subscription-based game service similar to PlayStation Plus with new games being added every 6-18 months after release. Price options are listed, and backward compatibility also makes an appearance.

Again, nothing mentioned above is confirmed. So, keep that in mind before getting bothered or excited over it.

Rumors have stated previously Nintendo NX is console-portable hybrid and dev kits were rumored to have started shipping in October.

Various reports on the console have surfaced since it was announced in March. A patent also surfaced showing what appeared to be a console without a disc drive (note the survey question mentioned above) and various  industry watchers believe the console will support Virtual and Alternate Reality products.

Analysts expect Nintendo NX to be released as early as July 2016.

Slides are below via Twitter statuses and Nintendo World Report's post on the matter should calm folks down a bit.
