Disney Q3: Interactive division posts loss ahead of Infinity release

Disney's Interactive division was the only business unit to consistently post a loss during the past three quarters, a track record which may be about to change.

In its Q3 financial report, Disney noted that the Interactive division posted a loss in both the first and third quarters, but had even worse results in the quarter ending June 29.

Sales dropped 7% to $183 million, and losses increased to $58 million.

Disney said declining social game performance was to blame, but did note that its doing well in Japan on that front.

The company also noted that it didn't have any major console releases during the quarter. That's about to change; it's great toys-to-life hope Disney Infinity hits stores this month.

No other division posted a loss, and only one noted declines in revenue. Disney as a whole noted a revenue increase of 4% and net income increase of 1% year-on-year.
