Disney Infinity in development, to compete with Skylanders Giants - report

Disney Infinity is a gaming title in the works which according to a report on fansite Stitch Kingdom will provide Act vision's Skylanders franchise with some competition.

According to the report, the site claims to have seen "a video produced for retailers which will be used to educate them on the product as well as familiarize them with the content".

Formerly known as Toy Box, Disney Infinity players will use plastic tokes to transport characters to virtual worlds using a "flat device" connected to consoles via USB and infrared.

Toy Box was first revealed last month through a New York Time interview with Disney CEO Robert A. Iger, who told the venerable news site the title would be the first to allow Disney and Pixar characters to interact with one other.

Stitch Kingdom states that a starter pack for the game will contain: a reader, three tokens for Monsters Inc.'s Sulley, Captain Jack Sparrow and Mr. Incredible.

Additional characters such as Mike Wazowski, Randall, Hector Barbossa, Davy Jones, Mrs. Incredible, Syndrome, Dash, Violet, Woody, Jack Skellington, Agent P, Rapunzel, Anna, Ice Queen, Sorcerer Mickey, Tow Mater and Francesco Bernoulli are to be released at a later date.

Radiator Springs from Pixar's Cars will also be available with Lightning McQueen and Holly Shiftwell, while The Lone Ranger - based on the Gore Verbinski movie starring Johnny Depp - will be released featuring the Lone Ranger and Tonto.

Toy Story in Space with Jessie and Buzz Lightyear is also on the docket, as well as Phineas and Ferb expansion packs.

Disney Infinity is slated for 3DS, PS3, Wii, Wiiu, and Xbox 360.
