Dishonored: Death of the Outsider lets you be as merciful as you like but there's zero compassion shown in this gameplay video

Have a look at some gameplay for Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, which takes place after the events of Dishonored 2.

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider is out next month, and is a standalone expansion to Dishonored 2 announced by Bethesda during E3 2017.

It brings players back to the Empire of the Isles, allowing them to take on the role of Billie Lurk. She has her own set of supernatural abilities, weapons and gear, making her the ultimate assassin.

Like Dishonored and Dishonored 2, players taking on the role of the former assassin are able to be as brutal or as merciful as they wish while investigating cults, fight clubs, and pulling off a bank heist in Karnaca.

It all leads up to a confrontation with the Outsider, initiated by her mentor Daud, which one can deduce just from the title of the expansion.

Below is a bit of spoilerish content which provides some background to the events in Death of the Outsider, so if you have yet to play Dishonored 2, you may wish to skip reading any further.

In the core game, Meagan Foster is an ally to Corvo and Emily, and captains the ship Dreadful Wale. During the course of gameplay, should certain conditions be met, she will reveal her true identity as Billie Lurk, a former assassin.

Due to her past, Billie seeks redemption and according to Arkane Studios boss Harvey Smith, her story was something the studio really wanted explore, almost from the start of Dishonored 2’s pre-production.

The development team really wanted to provide Billie with the opportunity to "tell us what she wanted in terms of recapturing a sense of meaning in her life," Smith told VG247

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider features the return of Rosario Dawson, Michael Madsen and Robin Lord Taylor as Billie, Daud and the Outsider, respectively.

It will be released on September 15 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
