Dick around while your artist friends actually create stuff in this multiplayer VR graffiti sim

It's just like real life!

Kingspray Graffiti is a virtual reality graffiti simulator which uses motion controls to emulate painting with spray cans. What differentiates it from so many VR art tools is how playful it seems to be.

The video above does include some footage of the colour and pressure pickers, and also how an artist might use them to make cool looking work and save it for later. But it also shows off how you can just dick around in VR.

The demo is filmed from the perspective of someone's whose major artistic contribution to the project is to draw and stick figure and then cover it up, while their actually skilled and talented friend does some real work. Perhaps growing bored in the wake of the terrible revelation that art is hard - even in VR - player one then spends their time picking things up and chucking them around.

The players are represented in-game by VR headsets, name tags and hands, which is a clever way to avoid the stiff-body horror of animating untracked body parts, but even with this limited gestural control player two manages to express their dissatisfaction with having beer cans lobbed at them while they're trying to work.

This is clearly the future of VR. Forget all those medicine robots and life-changing industrial design: I want to chuck a tinnie at people with better skills than myself.

Anyway, Kingspray Graffiti is "coming soon" to both Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. It has realistic drip and spray physics but magical undo and redo buttons; online multiplayer supporting up to four artists; replays; Internet radio through the in-game boom box; the ability to throw the boom box across the street if your pals keep choosing shitty stations; online UGC gallery where you can download other people's work to add to or modify at will; and an opt-in Lab to trial beta features during post-launch support.
