DICE: Gustavsson reminisces about Code Name Eagle and how it became Battlefield

Lars Gustavsson, the lead multiplayer designer at DICE, has said that comparing how the firm makes the Battlefield games now to how things were when they started out is "quite astonishing."

Speaking in a video interview with Game Informer, Gustavsson said when the team was first starting out, it was 10 or 15 guys sitting around in an apartment. One of the first games made was Code Name Eagle, and the team loved the multiplayer in it, and it basically became Battlefield after that thanks to the community of players really enjoying the game.

Gustavsson said the team took lessons from the game, and made additions to it, and eventually released Battlefield 1942.
