Devolver Digital's Big Fancy Press Conference: all the updates, new games, and an arcade cabinet announcement

Devolver goes hard at E3 these days, and their 2019 video is no exception.

Devolver Digital's Big Fancy Press Conference followed on from their previous weird, wild efforts, is full of exploding people, marketing speech that ends in throats being ripped out, and an ongoing plot line that will presumably continue on next year.

If you want an anecdote to the sincere speeches from other companies about how important gamers are, check it out below.

But if you're busy right now, or at work, or just don't want to see a guy explode in the middle of a press conference, we've rounded up all the news below, along with the individual videos.

First up is Media Tonic's Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, coming to PS4 and PC in early 2020. It's a battle royale, of sorts, where 100 little 'fall guys', each controlled by a different player, compete to survive obstacle courses and hazards. The trailer doesn't seem to show actual gameplay footage, but it's a fun concept.

The next game is perhaps the most exciting - Devolver Bootleg, a compilation of bootleg rip-off versions of Devolver's most popular titles. The compilation is already available on Steam, and contains the following games:

  • Enter The Gun Dungeon
  • Hotline Milwaukee
  • Ape Out Jr.
  • Shootyboots
  • Catsylvania
  • Luftrousers
  • Super Absolver Mini: Turbo Fighting Championship (2 Players Only)
  • PikuBiku Ball Stars (2 Players Only)

It's a fun idea, and pretty cheap.

Then there's Carrion, a brand new game from Phobia Game Studio, which is essentially a 2D "reverse horror experience" where you play as a tentacled monster. It looks neat. It's due in 2020 for PC.

By far the wildest game revealed was Enter the Gungeon: House of the Gundead, an all-new two player arcade cabinet based on the indie darling. It'll be available in 2020, assuming you live near a cashed-up arcade or have a lot of money to burn yourself.

Finally, Devolver unveiled some upcoming free DLC for The Messenger. The Messenger: Picnic Panic takes the game's retro ninja action to a more tropical setting, and will be completely free (assuming you own the original) when it hits PC, PS4 and Switch on July 11.

That's it for Devolver's announcements this year - and their video ends on a 'to be continued', so expect more weird violence and mayhem in 2020.
