Devil May Cry 5 Secret Ending - How to Get the 'Well I’ll be Damned' Trophy in Devil May Cry 5

Here's how to get the secret ending of Devil May Cry 5, and unlock the 'Well I'll be Damned' Achievement/Trophy.

Devil May Cry 5 has a secret ending. It's incredibly well hidden, but Devil May Cry 5's secret ending is real. This hidden ending of sorts isn't easy to find, and you'll only know how to unlock it if you're looking for it. In our Devil May Cry 5 secret ending guide, we'll be detailing how you can access the hidden ending as easily as possible.

Devil May Cry 5 Secret Ending

At no point during Devil May Cry 5 is a secret ending mentioned or hinted at, and it’s only if you explore the hidden Achievements/Trophies for the game that you’ll know about it. The ‘Well I’ll be Damned Trophy’ tasks you to get this secret ending, and it’s pretty tough to unlock.

Remember that fight with Urizen during the prologue mission with Nero, the one that you’re meant to lose? Well you’re going to have to defeat Urizen during this prologue mission while you’re playing as Nero, to see the secret ending of Devil May Cry 5.

We, like many others, assumed that beating Urizen during this mission wasn’t physically possible, since Nero has to lose this fight for the story of Devil May Cry 5 to progress. But it turns out you can actually beat the boss on any difficulty in the game. But, for your best shot at beating Urizen, you’re going to want to be playing on the ‘Heaven or Hell’ difficulty.

This is probably the outcome that you're used to seeing. | Hirun Cryer/USG, Capcom

In this extreme difficulty mode, everyone dies in a single hit. This means Nero, Dante, and V die when they take any damage whatsoever, but it also means that the hardest bosses in the game, like Urizen, die from a single hit. So, while we’ve confirmed it is possible to beat Urizen during the prologue mission on Human or Devil Hunter difficulty, you stand a much better chance of beating the boss on Heaven or Hell mode.

Once you’ve defeated Urizen, you’ll be able to see the secret ending of Devil May Cry 5. We won’t spoil what takes place here, but you’ve got to assume that this ending won’t be canonical moving forward with the series, since it’s sort of crucial that Nero loses this fight for the rest of the game to play out.

What Happens in the Devil May Cry 5 Secret Ending?

Perhaps the reason that we didn't spoil anything in the section above is because there's absolutely nothing to spoil. There's no cutscenes of any actual character dialogue hidden within the secret ending for Devil May Cry 5.

Instead, all that you get is a little expositional text, about what would have happened should Nero have defeated Urizen. Basically: Nero rises to glory, and that's about it. Nothing to write home about, really.
