Detroit, Gran Turismo Sport, Street Fighter 5 - all Sony's news from Paris Games Week

PlayStation skipped gamescom and EGX in favour of an end-of-year blowout at Paris Games Week. Boy, was it worth the wait. Get all the news within.

Sony bought a stack of new PS4 and PlayStation VR game announces, reveals and videos to the French show, resulting in plenty of new information to pore through. We've summarised the news before, with link outs to more detailed stories where available.

As expected, David Cage was in attendance to show off Quantic Dream's first PS4 game, Detroit (or possibly Detroit: Become Human). Based on the popular Kara tech demo, it tells the story of an android, and also of humanity in general. You know how he is.

The PS4 re-releases of Beyond: Two Souls and Heavy Rain are playable at the show, too. Still no release date.

PC and PS4 space exploration game No Man's Sky was dated for June 2016. This was disappointing, but any date's better than what we had before, and Hello Games said it has new, much-requested game features to reveal in the future - which may explain what's taking so long. Anyway, check out this sweet new trailer:

We finally got the announcement we've all been waiting for: Gran Turismo Sport is coming to PS4. Polyphony has gran plans to reinvent racing, including two different leagues with champions to be honoured alongside FIA racers. A beta will be available in early 2016.

In other racing news, stand-alone expansion Driveclub Bikes is out today.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is playable at the show, after Naughty Dog took to Sony's stage to show off the multiplayer side of things. Uncharted 4's multiplayer will run at 1080p and 60fps, which is astonishing, and include supernatural elements and grappling hooks. Hit that link for more information.

Still with first-party efforts, Sony released new Horizon: Zero Dawn gameplay footage from a demo previously only shown behind closed doors.

The platform holder also gave us the first gameplay demo of Media Molecule's PS4 project, Dreams.

Gravity Rush 2 looks amazing. There's three kinds of gravity now.

Third-party announcements

There was quite a lot of fighting game news, with Street Fighter boss Yoshinori Ono and Tekken boss Katsuhiro hardad popping up on stage. Ono came to confirm Dhalsim's inclusion in the roster and to talk about how Street Fighter 5 will get six new DLC characters you can purchase with in-game currency. Here's the trailer:

In his liveblog Pat said the sixth Street Fighter character will be Harada, which might have been a joke. In any case, Harada was there to confirm the currently arcade-exclusive Tekken 7 is making its way to PS4 and Xbox One. The PS4 version will support PlayStation VR. What! Check out the first console trailer:

Sony happily showed off a new Star Wars Battlefront trailer showing Leia, Boba Fett, Han Solo and even Palpatine. You should watch it, because it's pretty good.

Sony and 2K must be on good terms right now as it was announced that the Battleborn beta is coming first to PS4 along with a bunch of new gameplay details of Gearbox's hybrid shooter project. It's really starting to take shape now.

We got a handful of new indie announces, too. Vector is a musical rhythm action game featuring the music of AVICII. I Googled that and it's a bloke in a hat.

Resogun and Super Stardust developer Housemarque is making something called Matterfall. Details are slim at present, but the cinematic announce trailer hints at some interesting concepts. It's likely to be beautiful and have a blistering frame rate, knowing that team.

Wonderstruck's Boundless looks a bit like Minecraft, I must say, but it's played in a single shared universe, and the trailer hints that you can traverse via some sort of rope launcher.

Rayman creator Michel Ancel turned up to give us an update on WiLD, his first indie project. It looks pretty amazing and you can ride bears.

PlayStation VR

As for virtual reality, Rebellion revealed a new game called Battlezone, releasing first on PlayStation VR.

That Until Dawn on-rails shooter rumour turned out to be sort of true after all, but it's not DLC. Until Dawn: Rush of Blood is a standalone PlayStation VR game

Crytek is making a PlayStation VR game currently called Robinson: The Journey. It's got dinosaurs in it, because everyone loves its dinosaur tech demos.

That's about it, really, although one of the first stories out of the show was word of a new PlayStation eSports push. Sign up for PlayStation Plus League to begin your journey to glory, or whatever.

If you're not too tired after all that, I recommend reading Pat's liveblog of the conference for a bit of a laugh.
