Detroit: Become Human reviews round-up, all the scores

Detroit: Become Human releases tomorrow, May 25, and reviews for Quantic Dream's latest have started to drop.

PlayStation 4 exclusive Detroit: Become Human was announced in 2015 and it's based on the Kara demo which was first shown back in 2012.

The game is set in near-future Detroit where androids and humans co-exist. In it, an android named Kara discovers she can feel emotions. There are others such as Connor, a "cold, analytical, and advanced" android who hunts down others of his kind that no longer adhere to their programming.

There'a also Markus, another android who has gained consciousness. He has made it his mission to free others like him from servitude. All three of the androids are playable characters, and depending upon choices made by the player, the game's ending or fate of the playable character can change.

“Detroit is about emotions, about dilemmas and making difficult decisions”, Quanitc Dream boss David Cage said previously."It's not just the story of androids becoming aware of themselves and their fight to be free, it is about a story that resonates at many levels in our world, about being free, about becoming who you are.”

If you missed our previous hands-on with the game, our chat with the game’s lead writer, or our review of Detroit: Become Human, you should give those a look before you leap. It's said to be between 8-10 hours long with plenty of replay value.

Below you will find links to reviews for for the game. All scores are based out of ten unless noted.

Detroit: Become Human review scores

Eurogamer - "With this glib, rabble-rousing and admittedly enjoyable thriller, Quantic Dream has finally delivered on the promise of its interactive storytelling format, and resolved its difficult relationship with cinema."

Ars Technica - "Try it if you really want to see how hard it is to make branching narrative work on this scale. Otherwise, just catch up on Westworld."

Push Square - "Detroit: Become Human is vintage Quantic Dream, delivering a multifaceted choose-your-own-adventure that’s both ambitious and somewhat of an acquired taste.".

The Verge - "In Detroit, androids can dream. But the game’s creators can’t seem to dream of anything new to say."
