Details on Assassin’s Creed: Revelations escape from GI

It looks as though information regarding Assassin's Creed: Revelations from the next issue of Game Informer has hit the net.

According to what was gleaned from the article and posted over on NeoGAF, most of the game takes place in Constantinople which is split between four different districts: Constantine, Beyazid, Imperial and Galata. Players will also be visiting Cappadocia.

Ezio is over 50 years old in the game, which is why he looks it in on the cover of Game Informer. He will be in possession of a new item called the hookblade which he will use to take ziplines across the city, and it speeds up his navigation by 30 percent. It can also be used to grab enemies and pull them in closer for a sweet combo attack. The control system has been modified so that when you press the circle or B button on PS3 and 360, respectively, it will control the hookblade while triangle/Y will control project weapons and bombs.

Speaking of bombs, our middle-aged hero will also be able to use over 300 bomb types in the game, which he can craft.

Eagle vision has been changed to Eagle Sense: "Eagle sense let's you focus on a character and see where he's been," said Ubisoft's Alex Amancio. "You'll get an approximation of where he will go. If you're able to detect the path a guard will take, you can run ahead, set a bomb, and create a trap or an ambush."

The Borgia Towers concept has also been expanded to create a new system, for the Assassin's Dens. In the game, you will need to partake in and complete various assaults scenarios in order take down the Templars. Once an Assassin's Den has been created, you can upgrade the buildings in the region, add ziplines across rooftops, and persuade the city guards to become neutral instead of hostile. However, the more notoriety you gain, the larger chance you have of losing control over the Dens.

Should one of your Dens get attacked, you can send in troops to stop the threat should you not be near enough to help thwart a Templar attack. In order to do this, visit the nearest Den under your control. The article said that should you assign a master assassin as the controller of a specific den, it will never be taken over.

It was also noted that the game's leveling mechanic has been increased from 10 to 15, and that side quests have been done away with and replaced with random events. Say for example, you are traveling through the city and see a shop owner being robbed you can help him out. Another example would be a little girl coming up and asking for your help.

Desmond's part in the game finds him back inside the Animus where he has found a safe mode called the 'Black Room'. In this areas, you will be able to access Desmond's lost memories, and the gameplay during these sequences has more of a narrative-fueled puzzle vibe: "Through the manipulation and creation of geometry with the game world, Desmond seeks to reintegrate the splintered layers of his subconscious."

The game developers also utilized a new motion capture facial technology called Mocam which GI described as : "intriguing amalgamation of traditional animation, performance capture and the fascinating new style of performance on display in games like LA Noire."

Finally, the article states that multiplayer will return this time out, but will have more a more narrative focus since it is such a large part of the Assassins' Creed franchise. You'll also be able to custom your character's appearance and weapons, and also create guilds.

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations will launch in November for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
