Destiny: Ghosts get shells and Xur helps you get more Exotics in The Taken King

The Taken King is bringing sweeping changes to the core of Destiny. As many Destiny players will attest however, it's the minute details that matter most.

The Taken King is looking like it'll be the best thing to happen to Destiny. The expansion is changing the Light system in major ways, increasing the level cap, adding more toys than any other add-on, and plenty more.

Outside of content updates and major system changes, there are other interesting bits that may have gotten lost in all the noise. As part of Game Informer's coverage of the expansion, the magazine uncovered a few other exciting bits of details.

Ghosts will serve more than talking heads in The Taken King. Specifically, you will be able to change their outer shells. It's not just for show either - though that's fine too. According to the magazine, the shells you find around the world increase your Light level, boost your basic stats, as well as offer unique perks.

The magazine gave the example of one that increases your Glimmer income, and another that helps you find materials more quickly.

Xur, the only vendor that can supply your need for Exotics, is also becoming more fresh. When The Taken King launches, Xur's inventory will have one more item called the Three of Coins. Buying it will increase your chance of getting an Exotic drop the next time you fight a boss. The article noted that it's sold for Strange Coins, though that could be different come launch.

The Taken King releases September 15 on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.

If you're looking to join the fun, Amazon Prime is offering a good deal on the Legendary Edition, which comes with everything in one package.
