Destiny's servers fell in a hole today, right in the middle of prime time Sunday night gaming for the West Coast, but are on their way back up.
The Destiny servers seem to be recovering from an hour or so of very patchy service today.
Earlier this afternoon - evening US West Coast time - players reported disconnections with the error message "Lost connection to Partner Services", as well as simply being unable to log in.
The issue seems to have been resolved. Bungie's Help Twitter has deleted a tweet acknowledging the issue and previously affected users are reporting being able to get back online.
Bungie.net was also affected, progressing from completely inaccessible to sluggish to functional but with locked forums. It seems to be back online now.
The issue didn't affect everyone, and may have been regional. I had no trouble logging in from Australia.
The latest pack of Internet goons, LizardSquad, has claimed responsibility for the servers going down - see the image in the boxout. We won't dignify them with a link or embed.
The server trouble follows a weekend of increased incidents of the Centipede error, which affects institutions like college dorms in particular. That issue is tracked on a specific Bungie.net page, and Bungie has asked forum users for assistance is nailing it.
Destiny had quite a smooth launch given the incredible numbers it seems to have pulled, but that same hype means every downtime is the subject of intense scrutiny. No wonder the Destiny servers are locked up in a disaster-proof Las Vegas bunker.
