Bungie says it was "liberating" to move on from Halo and to Destiny

Bungie has found it "liberating" to have moved on from Halo and to Destiny, as it was important for the company to spread its creative wings.

Speaking with USA Today, community manager David "Deej" Dague said while it was important for Bungie to try something new, it won't soon forget the accomplishments it earned "from the Halo era."

"We'll never turn a blind eye to the accomplishments that come with Halo at Bungie," said Dague. "But as creators, as artists, as people with imaginations for how games can be new and different, and exciting, it was pretty liberating, actually, to start with a blank canvas and say, 'What sort of story do we want to tell now?'"

The move away from the Halo franchise was fully supported by many at the studio, especially for those who "had kept their imaginations rooted" in the IP, he added.

With development of the Halo franchise handed over to 343 Industries, Bungie is now able to fully concentrate on its 10 year plan with the Destiny Universe, a plan which it came to Activision with way back in 2010.

Destiny released on Tuesday for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Thanks, Gamespot.
