Destiny guide: Venus Gold Chest locations

Track down Destiny’s elusive Gold Chests with ease thanks to our detailed locations guide.

Destiny includes a second set of collectibles in addition to the Dead Ghosts, and the Gold Chests offer more than story and bragging rights, because they’re filled with sweet loot.

Opening a single Gold Chest will grant you a better-than-average reward, and occasionally a specific item, but collect the whole set in a location and you’ll receive something extra special.

If you follow our Destiny walkthrough you’ll find four of the five Venus chests as you explore; the numbering we’ve used here matches the walkthrough.

Here’s how to find the five chests:

Venus Gold Chest #1

The first Gold Chest is found on the path between the Shattered Coast and the Ishtar Academy. Just before you reach the library you pass through a U-shaped concrete underground tunnel. The chest is in the right arm of the U, and is easiest seen walking towards the Shattered Coast. Look carefully at the base of the pillars.

Venus Gold Chest #2

The second Gold Chest is around the back of a building in the first area of Campus 9, closest to the Waking Ruins. It's orange, and has a communications tower outside; don't confuse it for the one with a satellite dish. There's a balcony or catwalk that wraps around this building at the back; follow it all the way around till you meet the wall, then turn completely around; it should be just ahead of you, tucked inside an alcove.

Venus Gold Chest #3

Visit Winter's Lair and follow the linear tunnel until you reach a large central cavern with a split level floor. Climb to the upper level and stand on two crates draped in blue cloth; look up to see and hear the chest directly above you. Now that you know where it is, take the exit path towards the Cinders, which delivers you to the balcony above where you were just standing. The end closest to the chest opens onto a narrow horizontal beam; it's orange, and glows. Walk out onto this and double jump from the end. You may start to slip as you land, but another jump will get you there.

Venus Gold Chest #4

You can easily retrieve this Gold Chest during the Scourge of Winter mission, once you reach The Cinders. After climbing the gangway onto the Ketch, don't go inside towards the objective marker. Instead, walk in the opposite direction along the hull, and at the every end, drop down one level to find the chest.

Venus Gold Chest #5

Visit N/Gen Branch; it's accessible from the Ishtar Commons, by taking the path guarded by the Vex. As soon as you enter, turn right and head for an enclosed structure; it's an office, with a number of cubicles in the middle. The chest is in one of these cubicles.
