Destiny fans on PlayStation and Xbox equally beloved of Bungie

Destiny developer Bungie has assured worried fans it won't favour PlayStation players over their Xbox compatriots, or vice versa.

In a news post on Bungie.net, the developer responded to a question as to whether it 'loves all its fans the same, no matter what system they play on'.

"That’s right. You have some tough choices to make about the vessel you’ll select to transport you to the world of Destiny. No matter how things end up, Bungie will love you, and we’ll play with you," community manager David Dague said.

"I have an entertainment center at home that’s bristling with modern entertainment devices to prove it. Just try and evade my wrath. I will hunt you down and rescue/destroy you (aided by a posse of hardcore Bungie testers, or some Gunslingers I know). That’s tough love, but it’s still love."

The question of platform is an interesting one as Bungie shot to fame with the Xbox-exclusive Halo series, but Activision and Sony seem to have palled up; PlayStation 4 is the lead development platform, and the beta test will hit PS4 first; the Destiny beta is expected in July.

As Activision is believed to have shelled out $500 million for the franchise hopeful, it's not surprising it might want to secure a bit of platform exclusivity bonus.

Destiny hits PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in September.
