Destiny 2: third subclass basically confirmed, Bright Engrams, clan bonuses and other details in EDZ footage

Destiny 2 previews have been dropping since yesterday, and we've learned more in these few hours than we have since the game was announced.

We got to see how Bungie is going to make the open-world interesting with activities like Lost Sectors, Adventures, Flashpoints, and more. When the previews started coming online, though, many details made it out before Bungie officially talked about them.

The biggest one is about the mysterious third subclass for the three main classes in Destiny. Bungie never outright confirmed their existence, but new evidence suggests they are in the game, while also revealing a bit about how they're going to be introduced.

Arekkz has the details in the video below, sourced through hours of footage.

Basically, some items that dropped for those who played the build reference subclasses outside of the two we know for each class. So a Void subclass for the Hunter, and an Arc relic for the Warlock. Nothing referenced the Titan's, but it's not hard to imagine it also getting one. This could be how we gain access to the third subclass, by basically playing the game and collecting these tokens.

He also highlights Bright Engrams, which we've only seen in the EDZ footage. According to the in-game tool tip, these Engrams contain customisation items and they're decoded at Tess Everis.

There's an interesting bit in the video about spawn animations. In the clip shown, the player is spawning out of a green mist, very different from blue and while animation we've been seeing for years. It's not clear if this is something we'll be able to customise, but it does look cool.

Finally, the video touches on the upgraded clan system and how the game will reward players based on their clan participation. Every character now has a slot for a clan banner, and we finally got to see a glimpse of what that'll actually mean in the game. The banner shown has multiple tiers of bonuses such as extra glimmer when looting engrams, improved rewards from certain activities and when defeating certain enemies.

Destiny 2 is out September 6 on PS4, and Xbox One. The PC version
